churchey

whilst travelling around england visiting universities i thought I'd take photographs of the churches i saw across the country. so whenever i saw a church or a church-like interesting building i leaned out of whatever vehicle i was in at the time, and i came up with some interesting angles. I've altered some on the computer, because i think some need more colour, whereas some have a mystical effect. this is still at the research stage but i like how these photographs turned out, and I'm thinking of different styles and media's to use to paint them, because i can only really do a painting at the moment. i have canvas and wood, which would you think would be best? and any ideas for styles?

  1. these are sweet!

umm do you remember that thing we did in GCSE, where firstly we used tissue paper to collage shapes, then like white paint, then like ink and then some other crazy stuff like brusho??
and we just kept layering the stuff on, maybe you could combine some of the images on photoshop and then mix different mediums together in different areas of the painting.
it could be quite an original and funky approach to use for churches.

    hope this helps you smelly!

  2. great feedback KB - and a top idea!

Have a look at Dennis Creffield's studies of all of the English cathedrals - big powerful charcoal work stemming from his tuition by David Bomberg.
